Abstract :
This paper presents the results of a study on electrical characteristics and insulating performance of silicon rubber that have been widely used as the outdoor insulating materials. Of the various experimental methods for investigating erosion degree of silicon rubber surface, we did use several techniques such as measurement of contact angle, the peak pulse number, average of leakage current and the weight loss. From test results, the aging of silicon rubber increased progressively along time, with substantial increasement of leakage current, and then also made surface more rough. The contact angle of specimen which have rest time for a while is higher value than the value of other specimens which don´t have rest time. From this facts, we could know that the rest time contribute to the surface recovery and to the other evaluations showing electrical characteristics of surface
