Abstract
The authors present an overview of the corrosion of electrical equipment, covering power transformers, distribution equipment, switchgear, substations, transmission lines and towers, etc., which is a potentially major contributor to repair and maintenance requirements. The corrosion process, its cause and remedies are, generally, well understood. They show that it is, however, still common for corrosion problems to occur due to material selection problems at the design stage or lack of proper maintenance
