Abstract
In this paper a linear prediction technique is developed to separate a partial discharge signal from its echoes in a noisy environment. Based on the correlation which exists between the measuring values of a signal, it is possible to trace the signal. The signal can then be extracted from its echoes or background noise. Since the parameters of the prediction technique are determined by the recorded signal, very good results can be obtained from a noisy composite signal. This procedure can provide a good method to filter a composite signal when conventional methods fail
