Abstract
This paper deals with the application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to the industrial scale combustors. It outlines the details of the equations in mathematical form used for modelling fluid flow in an environment of the combustors. These models incorporate turbulent combustion, radiation, convection, diffusion and complex transport phenomena. The paper describes simulations of the combustion phenomena for the premixed pulverised coal combustion for re-circulating flows. A 0.5 MW furnace is simulated and results are presented.
