Abstract
In this paper, a new two-stage rectifier is presented, with active current shaping at the input terminals for fulfilling the requirements of the European standard EN 60555 part 2. The input power stage is capable of handling both 120 VAC and 240 VAC input voltage. The rectifier´s input current shaper processes only 1/3 of the output power at 230 VAC, or 2/3 of the output power at 120 VAC input voltage. The advantage of the new circuit is that savings can be made in components cost, compared with conventional solutions. The rectifier topology has been designed to be used in a rectifier for output power levels of 300 W at 240 VAC and 120 VAC
