Transformational leadership is viewed as "universal across cultures", but "the way it exert influence are culturally specific". In the process of opening the black box of transformational leadership mechanism, cultural context is one of most remarkable variable among empirical studies. In this study, we conducted a meta-analysis to classify the differences of the relationship between transformational leadership and LMX across two cultures (American and Chinese). The results of this article was based on 24 independent samples (N=7,040). Results posited that the relationship between transformational leadership (TFL) and leader-member exchange (LMX) was more positively in Chinese cultural context than in American cultural context.
