Abstract
The author describes what the nuclear power industry is doing to achieve a higher level of performance overall in the operations of its nuclear plants and how human factors are being considered in this process. Particular emphasis is placed on the efforts of the following organizations: the Nuclear Management and Resources Council, the Electric Power Research Institute, and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.<>
