Abstract :
This paper presents presents a new backup power supply with a battery deterioration test circuit. The power supply is for solid state file equipment used in telecommunications networks for multimedia services. Ni-Cd batteries are mounted on the power supply board for supplying backup power. A method is established for determining the optimum number of Ni-Cd batteries. A battery deterioration test circuit which discharges the batteries and precisely calculates power capacity is developed for the power supply. The backup characteristics and the operation of the battery deterioration test circuit are confirmed experimentally
