Abstract :
The human factors research program plan (HFRPP) devoted to nuclear power plant safety consists of four major elements: basic research and analysis on human behavior and modeling; a methodological study for practical use; the development of high-risk technology; and the construction of a database for the support of these studies. The author describes the composition of the HFRPP and its role allotment and in the governmental and private research sector. He presents the long-term plan, the working schedule, and the current status of the Institute of Human Factors which is the central executive organization for the implementation of countermeasures for nuclear power generation safety established by the government.<>
