Abstract :
In a heterogeneous network, layered multicast which enables receivers to determine the rate of a stream adaptively to their various capacities, is useful. Previous rate control schemes for layered multicast, however, treat each stream independently and cannot allocate the requested bandwidth to each stream. This paper presents a multiple streams controller (MSC) which provides receivers subscribing to multiple streams in layered multicast with an inter-stream adaptive rate control conducted end-to-end.
