Abstract :
A novel ultra-compact polarization rotator (PR) based on surface plasmon polaritons waveguide is proposed. The total footprint of the proposed device is only 0.44μm × 2.55μm. Simulations with 3D-FDTD show that the PR has a broad bandwidth (1.4μm~1.7μm) with extinction ratios larger than 10dB. The insertion losses are less than 1dB during the wavelength range of 1450nm~1650nm.
