Abstract :
A packet network, like the Ethernet network, has a self-similar characteristic with its burst pattern over almost all time resolution. Therefore, a specific traffic, such as video traffic, needs special treatment for real-time applications. We show the behavior of the MPEG-1 stream over our local area Ethernet network. Although the pattern of the frame length is kept the same, duration pattern of each frame is difficult to predict from the frame length.
