Abstract :
In the traditional ATM system, cell delineation is achieved on the basis of the recognition of the header-error control (HEC) coding law. However, the wireless ATM system usually suffers from serious transmission errors, which results in serious cell synchronization performance deterioration. In this paper, a special protection mechanism is proposed, which is applied in a special wireless ATM system. Comparisons are made between the performance of the traditional and the new mechanism. It is proved that an obvious improvement is obtained, particularly when the BER is very high.
