Introduction to the special session on wireless protocols security & hardware implementations

This special session is organized as a part of the 12^th IEEE Electrotechnical Conference - MELECON 2004, which takes place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on May 12-15, 2004. The topics of the special session call were as follows: 1) cryptography in wireless communications (mobile phones,wireless networks); 2) reconfigurable processors for wireless communications; 3) smart cards security; 4) computer architectures for public-key and secret-key cryptosystems; 5) crypto-processors for wireless networks; 6) true and pseudo random number generators; 7) new encryption algorithms; and 8) architectural optimizations of security schemes and ciphers for wireless communications. A total of five papers have been selected for this special session and briefly discussed.
