Abstract
The author describes Vantage, an industrial nickel cadmium battery, constructed in the traditional way but with additional features which allow the recombination of oxygen to conserve water in the electrolyte. Initially launched some seven years ago, it has proved successful in many stand-by power applications including traditional telecommunication systems
