Abstract :
Conventional digital interpolators are used for converting signals between sampling rates that have ratios expressible as rational numbers. Filters for interpolating between sampling rates with more general ratios, which may be irrational or time varying, are referred to here as generalized interpolators. The authors define and justify frequency-domain optimality criteria for generalized interpolators and describe an approach to designing the corresponding digital filters
