Abstract
A gain enhancement technique for microstrip antenna arrays is demonstrated which relies on a superstrate-substrate geometry. The gain enhancement of this configuration has been demonstrated by a series of experiments for several microstrip antenna arrays over X to Ku frequency bands. A set of results for a superstrate layer of E/sub 2/=10 is shown, where the original antenna is a 10*8 comb-line microstrip array with a substrate of E/sub r1/=2.8, 1.8-mm thick.<>
