Abstract :
A mental misrepresentation error can lead to a nuclear plant operator to pilot his installation with a model more and more disconnected from reality. A cognitive process model is described, to analyze representation errors committed in incidents that have actually occurred. It can also be used for analyzing simulator tests where representation errors have also been committed. In addition, it provides a teaching aid, increasing operator awareness of these error risks. The elementary steps of the cognitive process associated with a task of incident management are described as follows: actuator of the human sensor, reading and memorization of the information, diagnostic, choice of action procedure, and actions and communications. Numerous examples of misinterpretation errors are given as an illustration.<>
