Can tourism expansion cause the growth of real estate investment? This study examines the causal relationship between tourism and real estate investment in Hainan island. The cointegration test indicates that there is a long-run equilibrium relationship between tourism and real estate investment, A Granger causality also supports that tourism causes real estate investment in one direction. In addition, the empirical evidence of impulse response function clearly shows that the tourism can produce a positive promotion to real estate investment.
