Abstract :
This paper investigates the issue of transport protocol for voice over IP signalling. A new reliable signalling transport protocol (RSTP) for VoIP is presented, after discussing the feasibility of utilizing existing transport protocols over IP (TCP/UDP) for VoIP signalling. The presented RSTP in this paper is a very lightweight reliable transport protocol with low delay, low overhead and high performance. Furthermore, it is easy to be implemented.
