  • Abstract
The INTELSAT VI satellite makes use of 11 different antennas, operating at both C-band and Ku-band. The C-band coverages are: (1) four spatially isolated zone coverages which are reconfigurable for each of three possible ocean region orbit positions (Atlantic, Indian, Pacific); (2) spatially isolated east and west hemispheric coverage; and (3) global coverage. The C-band beams use circular polarization with common coverage regions having beams with opposite polarization sense. Two reflectors are used, with each being illuminated by approximately 145 feed horns. The Ku-band coverage consists of two independent elliptical spot beams. Each beam is generated by a single horn illuminating a shaped reflector. Both beams are mechanically steerable along the earth´s disk and are spatially isolated. The feed networks consist of TEM line squareax (square coaxial line) technology and dual-mode circular Potter horns.<>
