Abstract :
In this paper, tracking characteristics of an adaptive infinite impulse response (IIR) notch filter with a gradient-based simplified adaptation algorithm for an input signal with a randomly-varying frequency is presented. The analysis follows the approach we proposed in recent work where a first-order difference equation with respect to a steady-state instantaneous frequency tracking error is derived. The difference equation is used to derive an expression for the tracking mean square error (MSE) based on the power spectral density (PSD) method. Computer simulations are included to confirm the analysis.
