Abstract :
TV-SAT is characterized by a highly modular design consisting of the antenna module, the communication module, the service module, the solar array module, and the propulsion module. The communication payload operates in the Ku-band, applying the 17.7-18.1 GHz band for uplink and the 11.7-12.1 GHz band for downlink. Due to light weight and thermal stability requirements the antenna module consists of two CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic) offset parabolic reflector antennas, the elliptically contoured transmit antenna (2.7*1.4 m) and the circular receive antenna (2 m circular), both mounted on a 3.4 m-high CFRP antenna tower. The characteristics of the antenna module are presented, and antenna test and interface requirements are described.<>
