Abstract :
NYC HHC is the nation´s largest public health system and a pioneering leader in clinical informatics. The panel provides an overview of NYC HHCs vision and goals for clinical information systems, including three case studies of recently developed systems for the Emergency Department, Cardiology, and Ambulatory Care. The cases studies illustrate the value of standardized practices through the implementation of structured documentation, using template menus and voice recognition technology. All three system development projects exemplify the best practice in clinical informatics-a collaboration between clinical and information system leaders to create a technology tool that enables the redesign and improvement of clinical care.
