Abstract
A general-purpose simulation program, with a special adapted SPICE model, integrated in SOLO 2000, is presented for power circuits and systems. This program attempts to solve all design problems related to power electronics systems. Specific power device models have been implemented. Diodes, SCRs, and MOSFETs as well as other semiconductor devices are introduced. A general procedure to choose snubbers and other protecting devices is also presented. This program has been used with SPICE-3B1 working with a SUN3 workstation. Several power circuits have been designed and built with this tool. A DC chopper (10 kW, 310 V DC) has been built. Comparative results show the high degree of accuracy of this circuit design tool
