Abstract
Innovation in processes products, and services is a key to success in knowledge based economy where quality measures alone are not sufficient to bring competitive advantage to small companies in developing countries. While product and process quality measures are often stressed upon, readiness for innovation and knowledge management initiatives in small enterprises needs to be explored critically to ascertain areas where managers can assert their improvement efforts to attain dynamic success targets. This research focuses on investigating implementation of performance measures related to the balanced scorecard in small enterprises and identifies the dominating and lacking dimensions of the scorecard. The data collected from local small enterprises is statistically analyzed to investigate these parameters and the findings are presented to allow business managers to provide effective leadership in the areas which are lacking in the identified dimensions.
