Abstract :
The basic performance of multilevel inverters is synthesizing a proper output voltage level by using several DC sources in the input. By increasing the number of levels in the output, the generated output voltage has smaller steps, which leads to better quality output waveform. The main problem of multilevel inverters is the high power switches necessity. This paper proposes a new non-isolated DC source symmetric multilevel inverter structure with reduced number of power switches which in turn reduces the control complexity. It is capable of extending and generating all the odd desired output voltage levels, which in this paper an output of seven-level is considered and to show this structure can be easily expanded to higher levels a nine-level also is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink and discussed.
