Abstract :
This paper presents novel noise suppression method by limiter amplification using a gain saturated DFB-LD. Using a /spl lambda//4-shifted MQW-DFB-LD, 43% noise suppression of the noise distribution at the mark level was experimentally demonstrated for 10 Gb/s RZ pulses with receiver sensitivity improvement of 1 dB.
