Abstract :
The Document Management System for Mount Sinai was developed to track physician participation in managed care plans and to easily compare contractual and administrative requirements of managed care plans. The physician participation subsystem was developed using standard techniques for normalized relational databases and allows creating an endless variety of reports. The document management subsystem allows for easy edit and provides for a comparison of contracts with multiple plans/payers. The function of the database is to manage and manipulate information with MS Word files that contain the text of key contract terms and provisions This system has enabled the IPA to more effectively serve in it´s role as agent in negotiations for the full time faculty and messenger for the voluntary faculty at Mount Sinai and enhanced the IPA´s ability to assist physicians and administrative staff in compliance with contract terms and to dispute non-compliance of terms by health plans.
