An impression management approach is proposed to enhance team cooperation and integration, ultimately to improve team performance in this article. Team cooperation and integration can improve team performance. However, dishonesty and “free-rider” effect are two main factors preventing team members from cooperation and integration. Impression management can be adopted by team members to control their partners´ perceived images of themselves. Through impression management, team members can improve their desired images, and enhance the tendency of team cooperation and integration. Team performance will be changed ultimately. We develop propositions on how to improve team performance by using impression management approach among team work, and the limitations of this approach and its implication for future research are also discussed.
