Abstract :
The wireless local loop (WLL) network is designed using TelAIR RF engineering tool developed by LGIC. Since the WLL is a fixed radio communication system, a narrow beam antenna can be employed at both the base station and subscriber´s side. This gives the WLL many advantages over a CDMA mobile system, such as a larger coverage area, low power, reduced interference, higher capacity, no fast fading, no hand-off, etc. In order to design the WLL CDMA system, several parameters such as path loss, E/sub c//I/sub t/, handoff status and WLL system parameters are considered. In order to optimize the base station location and predict the service coverage, a precise propagation model is needed. A measurement-based model that is applicable to each environment is suggested. Also, the E/sub c//I/sub t/ and hand off status is analyzed for implementing an effective WLL network.
