Abstract :
The difficulty in predicting the required air gap due to problems in calculating the Fringing Factor in magnetic circuit at the location of air gaps, causes various ambiguities in the design process of inductors. Significant number of researchers are still trying to find better prediction of fringing. But with standard and available formula it is demonstrated that inductors can be designed and fabricated with good precision without going into the exact calculation of fringing.
