Abstract
Eye safety requirements in diffuse infrared (IR) indoor links impose an upper limit on average transmitter optical power. This paper discusses analytical trade-offs on the receiver time constant in order to meet the allowable exposure limit (AEL) and to ensure minimum power consumption in battery operated portables.
