Abstract :
This paper presents aspects regarding teaching microcontrollers basics knowledge for students which are enrolled in an undergraduate program of study. The structure of the lecture but especially the structure of laboratory are presented. The last is based on a very cheap but versatile system: MSP-EXP430G2 development board. Therefore, the students are encouraged to acquire their own systems. Thus, they can improve their skills in this very dynamic field by working at home. We applied both collaborative and individual learning method as teaching approaches. Furthermore we prepare practical lessons which contain novelty compared with other didactical materials from literature. The paper analyses the impact of this approach to the results obtained by the students.
