Abstract :
This paper presents the evaluation of the incident information transmission on highways from a vehicle that detects or encounters an incident to following vehicles over the inter-vehicle communications by relaying the information. The transmission is evaluated with the transmission range from the vehicle first transmitting the information with the parameters of the communication unit penetration rate and the communication range. The evaluation is conducted with simulation studies based on the Monte Carlo method as well as an analytical approach. The results show that the penetration rate at the feasible incident information transmission system is at least 10 to 20 % depending on the traffic volume.
