Abstract
The T/2 fractional passband equalizer, developed for a modem following V.32 and V.33 CCITT recommendations, is presented. The block LMS algorithm controls all adaptive equalizer parameters. This algorithm attains the same performance as a standard LMS, but is computationally less complex due to a more efficient use of signal processor capabilities. An important feature of this equalizer is the adaptive carrier phase tracking system designed to suppress phase jitter
