A New Volume Rendering Algorithm Based on Voxel Segmentation and Combination

Abstract :
On the basis of demonstrating the existence of feature regions in 3D medical data field, the voxel block projecting algorithm based on region segmentation is advanced. Firstly, 3D data field carries on the pretreatment of normalization and integration. Secondly, the segmentation algorithm of 2D images is modified and expanded for the extraction of feature regions in 3D data field. Thirdly, the either-or classification of 3D data field is changed into a fuzzy segmentation in which data field is divided into edge transitional region and non-edge transitional region, and then the edge transitional region and the non_edge transitional region are projected separately. Finally, the experiment results show that this algorithm can not only improve the image quality of transitional regions in data field, but also guarantee the speed of image rendering.
