Abstract :
Previously proposed piezoelectric transformers are studied for high-voltage step-up applications. A piezoelectric transformer using LiNbO3 has low loss and a simple structure. A plate of a conventional piezoelectric transformer is supported only at the point of the node of the vibration. Rigid support is required for high power applications. To apply a piezoelectric transformer to a power circuit, methods of transmitting power and supporting the piezoelectric plate are studied. Based on the studies, a piezoelectric transformer using energy trapping of width shear vibration in LiNbO3 plate is proposed
