Abstract
This paper proposes a fading circuit for LED driving applications, designed to obtain both linear and exponential LED current variation. It consists of reference register, counter, decoder, output register and a multiple-cell digitally controlled current source (DCCS). An analytical study of the decoder translation functions and DCCS architecture is performed. The circuit is included into a boost converter IC Controller manufactured in a 50V, 0.5μm CMOS technology and experimentally validated. Results show good theoretical and measured data.
