Abstract :
An automatic method is proposed for computing the values of functions over maps, at any of their points, starting from randomly distributed field punctual observations wherever possible, not wherever needed. The automation of the computation, which is made in one step, avoids a double interpolation forced by the use of level curves in conventional methods. This work is based on digital image processing and computer graphics techniques, including the resolution of nonlinear equation systems and 2-D interpolation procedures. The algorithm has been tested over MUF maps and over atmospheric noise maps
