Abstract :
The present paper presents a new analysis approach that assesses the impact of different battery types on fuel consumption of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV). The simulation platform is based on Matlab modeling and Matlab programming. The added value is given by the comparative overview as a result of the applied analysis. The efficiency of the analysis method is proven through a series of simulation results. The motivation of this paper is to identify an innovative simulation and analysis environment that can contribute to a better CO2 emissions level and higher fuel efficiency. The advantage of this method is that the battery impact on the fuel efficiency can be assessed in an early stage of development and can be used during prototyping. The results contribute to the practical need of developing vehicles with better energy efficiency, quality and costs.
