Abstract :
Longitudinal sound velocity and attenuation measurements were performed on high-quality single-crystal UPt3 between 5 mK and 700 mK in zero magnetic field. The low temperatures reached in this experiment allow better comparison to the theoretical predictions of the longitudinal sound attenuation for different gap states. A significant dispersion of sound associated with the superconducting transition was observed. Within the resolution of the ultrasonic measurements on this sample, no manifestation of the recently reported specific heat anomaly around 18 mK was observed
