Abstract :
A K-band (18.0-26.5 GHz) oscillator is designed and implemented by an HMIC (hybrid microwave integrated circuit), which is composed of a dielectric resonator, a GaAs MESFET, and a frequency doubler. A quarter wave length open stub is used in the frequency doubler to suppress the fundamental frequency of 12.875 GHz which is the output of the dielectric resonator oscillator and the output matching network is optimized for its second harmonic frequency of 25.75 GHz. This oscillator exhibits an output power of 0.17 dBm, a fundamental frequency suppression of -30.5 dBc, and a tuning range of 40.2 MHz.
