Abstract
State-of-the-art models for nonlinear power amplifiers such as traveling-wave tubes (TWTs) are reviewed and critically analyzed. Emphasis is on modeling amplifiers with memory. Particular attention is given to the models of H.B. Poza et al. (1975), A. Saleh (1981), and M.T. Abuelma´atti (1984). A novel model which eliminates some of the faults of the old models is also introduced. This model is based on characterizing the response of a single sinusoidal component of a modulated signal in the presence of the many other tones that make up the modulated signal
