Abstract :
In this paper, we analyze a forced Duffing-van der Pol oscillator with a diode by the use of a degenerate technique. We consider the case where the diode is assumed to operate as an ideal switch. In this case, the governing equation is represented by a constrained equation. From this equation, the Poincare´ map is derived as a one-dimensional map. The generation of various interesting phenomena such as torus and chaos etc. are well explained by the Poincare´ map
