Using U.S. quarterly data of import prices, export prices and domestic consumer prices in 1989–2007, this paper studies empirically US dollar exchange rate pass-through effects. The results show that the pass-through effects of US dollar on import and export prices are incomplete whatever in the short run or in the long run, but very strong in the long run. The effects of US dollar on import prices are larger than on export prices both in the short run and in the long run. The effects of US dollar on domestic consumer prices are statistically insignificant both in the short run and in the long run.
