Abstract
A novel Substrate Integrated Artificial Dielectric (SIAD) power/ground layer (SIAD-PL) is proposed with wideband mitigation of the simultaneously switching noise (SSN) from 3.24 GHz to 9.23 GHz (over -30 dB). The SIAD-PL is designed by periodically embedding metal rods into the substrate between the power/ground planes. The proposed structure not only behaves highly efficient suppression of SSN, but also keeps good signal integrity (SI) with significant improvement on eye patterns for high speed signals with two via transitions within its stopband. The value of |S21| of the signal trace is upgraded 7.06 dB at 5.42 GHz, and is within -1 dB from 3 GHz to 8 GHz. The excellent SSN suppression performance with keeping good signal integrity in the stopband for the proposed structure is validated by numerical simulations.
