Abstract :
Summary form only given. A high power microwave test stand has been constructed at the University of New Mexico in support of the Department of Energy´s Accelerator for the Production of Tritium (APT) program. The purpose of the test stand is to improve arc detection diagnostics (performance and/or cost) through an improved understanding of arc physics. The system is driven by a 850 MHz klystron that can deliver more than a MW of RF power for pulse durations of many milliseconds. A detailed description or the test stand will be presented as well as initial data describing window and waveguide breakdown phenomena.
