  • Abstract
The traditional industry is a basic industry of Taicang city, therefore in the process of industrial transformation and upgrading, we should attach great importance to the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. In this paper, we select 18 industries from the industrial enterprises above the designated scale of Taicang city in 2009 as a representative of the traditional industries, and select seven input and output indicators, such as the net fixed assets, industrial output, then use DEA model to evaluate the input and output efficiency and scale efficiency of traditional industries. The results show that the traditional industrial sectors of Taicang city are different not only in size but also in technical efficiency. The overall efficiency of the traditional industrial sector is not high, and the task of restructuring and upgrading is arduous.
