Abstract
Higher order sliding mode control technique, in specific super-twisting algorithm, is used as a better alternative to robustly stabilize the blood glucose concentration level of a diabetic patient in presence of the parameter variations and meal disturbance. The super-twisting algorithm is employed to eliminate the effect of chattering and obtain continuous control. The structure of the proposed sliding mode controller is appropriate in making the insulin delivery pumps in closed loop control of diabetes. A computer simulation is performed to manifest the theoretical analysis. The behavior of the patient´s closed loop model in presence of physical disturbances like food intake has been checked via simulations
